Forward by Flight Lieutenant A Swierczek RAFVR(T):
Welcome to the website of 2449 (Carnoustie) Squadron. I hope you will enjoy looking through the various pages to find out about us and if you are not already a member, perhaps this may encourage you to join the Air Training Corps and share in the pleasure of Venturing Adventure.
Carnoustie is a small town situated on the east coast of Scotland some 12 miles north-east of Dundee. It's prime claim to fame is that it has a Golf Course which was home to the Open Golf Championship in 1999.
Over the years however Carnoustie Squadron has enjoyed a fair degree of success particularly in the field of sport with many cadets over the years winning a wide variety of Wing, Regional and Corps Blues. In addition we have had two Cadets win the Purdie Sword which is presented to the best male cadet in Scotland & Northern Ireland Region one of whom subsequently went on to win the Dacre sword as best male cadet in the Corps.
We have also provided the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and the Army with several personnel in recent years all of whom found the basic training and skills learned in the Air Training Corps to be of a great advantage to them in their initial service training. Even those who have gone on to take up civilian jobs have found that they benefited from the few years spent with the Squadron.
